The Djibouti-hosted
Somali National Reconciliation Conference held a short plenary
session on Tuesday at which a top aide to Mogadishu-based
faction leader, Hussein Aideed, expressed "100 percent support"
for the conference.
The aide,
Hussein Siad Farah, also known as "Qoor Gab", thanked the
Djibouti government for hosting the talks.
He said
Hussein Aideed could join the conference in the next few days.
Sources at the conference told IRIN that there were "varying
views" on whether the conference was deliberately being held
back in anticipation of the arrival of prominent faction leaders,
or whether the schedule of the conference, due to end 15 July,
had been delayed by difficult political decisions on elections.
